1995 - Getting ready for EDAM

We now have the required number of full members to qualify for creating the First Motorcycle Group in Scotland.


Allan and I approach Alan Kerr, mention that we are to form a group and ask Alan if he will become treasurer, which thankfully he accepts.


Inaugural General Meeting of the Motorcycle Group 28 February 1995

George Goldie Divisional Council Member, Jim McIntyre Regional Organiser, and Inspector Rennie Ritchie attend. Mr Goldie proposed the motion to form the Edinburgh & District Advanced Motorcyclists Group.


Hence the name: Edinburgh & District Advanced Motorcyclists.

The first Motorcycle Group in Region 6 Scotland and allocated Group number 6216.

It had been proposed that Superintendant James Pryde be elected as Honorary President, a letter of acceptance is read to the meeting. Chairman Jeff Glen, Secretary Allan Dunnett, Treasurer Alan Kerr, Newsletter Editor Dave Gilroy.

A card of congratulations is gratefully received with a cheque for £30 from Ms Ann Bradshaw secretary of the car group.


The chairman thanks Jim and George for all their support and assistance in the establishment of the group. Jeff reports that Rod Collins and Christopher Bullock Chief Executive of the IAM called the previous week to wish the new group well.

Inspector Rennie Ritchie gives a talk on group riding.


Andrew Winton presents the Two Wheels Trophy and a cheque for £100 to the group. The Chairman thanks Inspector Ritchie and Andrew Winton.

In 1995 we were listening to Robson and Jerome sing Unchained Melody while watching Bad Boys at the cinema and looking at the huge Triumph Adventurer 900.
