19 March 1991, the 1st AGM of the motorcycle sub-section.
We make our first attendance at the Scottish Motorcycle Show held in Brunton Hall, Musselburgh. We have a table in the passageway between a wall and the back of a screen, on the other side of the screen is a bike dealer called Two Wheels!
Launch of the Motorcycle sub section.
On 21 July the motorcycle sub-section of the Edinburgh & District Group of Advanced Motorists is officially launched at Broughton High School Carrington Road Edinburgh.
We have the use of a Mobile Display unit; a group member provides us the use of a public address system. A Press Release is issued along with posters placed in local garages, libraries and public notice boards. The Road Safety Department of Lothian and Borders Police are present with their own display unit and Motorcycle Traffic Officers to assist with observed runs.
The observed runs prove very popular, as usual, although those paired with a Motorcycle Traffic Officer are initially a bit apprehensive. The launch day is opened at 13:30 hours by our guest Howard Selby from North Berwick, the 600cc World Sports Champion who brings along two of his race bikes. Everything runs smoothly, we spread the word; the weather is brilliant and we sign up new associates for many weeks afterwards. It is truly a wonderful and exciting day for the newly formed motorcycle section. Our local examiner, Jim Pryde, having just been promoted to the rank of sergeant is in attendance to offer his best wishes.
Some earlier fun runs
In 1991, there was the Yamaha FZR1000, we were watching the Silence of the Lambs, and listening endlessly to (Everything I Do) I Do It for You, by Bryan Adams
